Privacy Policy

LocalLens helps shops show photos from their customers on an in-store screen. This policy explains what we collect and why. LocalLens is responsible for it; contact us at basitmaliktechsolution@gmail.com.
If you share a photo by QR code
- What we store: your photo, your caption, the optional name or Instagram handle you enter, and the time you agreed to it being shown.
- Location removed: your photo is re-encoded on your phone before upload, which strips embedded metadata such as GPS location.
- Moderated: shop staff review every photo before it appears. Declined photos are deleted straight away; approved photos stay until the shop removes them or closes its account.
- Who decides: the shop you shared with controls your photo (it is the “controller”); we store and process it on the shop's behalf. To have it removed, ask the shop, or email us and we'll pass it on and help.
If you run a shop
- Account details: your email address, a securely hashed password (we can't see it), and your shop settings.
- Emails: we use your email for account messages such as password reset links.
- Billing: payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Instagram (optional): if you connect an Instagram professional account, we retrieve media that tags or mentions it, with your permission. Access tokens stay on our servers.
How we use it
Only to run the service: letting shops review and display content on their own screens, keeping accounts secure, and billing. We don't sell data or use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
Our hosting provider (where the service and photos are stored), Stripe (payments) and our email provider (account emails). Each only processes data to provide their service to us.
Retention and deletion
Shops can remove any photo at any time. When a shop closes its account we delete its data within 30 days, and from backups within a further 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as invoices.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it. Email basitmaliktechsolution@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
